In this three-session course, students will be introduced to the basic skills of knitting: casting on, knitting and purling, changing colors, increasing and decreasing, and binding off. They will also learn how these stitches can be manipulated to produce different fabrics and shapes. Each student will work at his or her own pace to produce a hat -- to fit themselves, another kid, a doll or toy, or an adult. Materials cost will provide students with a set of circular needles and yarn, both of which they may keep.
